Apply Here

Our Doctor of Philosophy in Theological Studies (Ph.D.) is a research program designed for learners interested in teaching and research and aspire to contribute to scholarship in specific areas of Theological studies to make disciples for Christ.

As an institution founded upon Biblical Christian truth, Resurrection Power University subscribes to the scripture concerning Jesus Christ:

“In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”  (Colossians 2:3).

As a result, our Ph.D. program welcomes learners from diverse theological and non-theological backgrounds. Learners may choose to explore the biblical foundation of their previous or present academic and professional areas as service to God through humanity. All non-theology background students must complete all recommended foundational coursework in Theological studies, Research, and write a supervised dissertation. In addition to the traditional Theology, Divinity, and Ministry, the cognate areas covered at RPU include Theology of Technology and Science, Cyberspace Theology and Media Ministry, as well as Creation and End-Time Studies with special emphasis on the second coming of Jesus Christ. Note that although we have taken the initial steps toward the application for accreditation, Resurrection Power University is not accredited by any agency that the US Department of Education recognizes.

Admission Requirements

The program seeks to admit advanced Doctoral scholars with non-theology backgrounds who, upon successful completion of foundational Theology courses, would proceed with dissertation research that would align their previous background professional and academic areas to Theological perspectives. To be admitted to our Doctoral program, a student must possess a minimum of a Master’s degree or one of the following qualifications:

All-but-dissertation (ABD) Doctoral Candidates from regionally or nationally accredited institutions may be acceptable (May be completed in 18 months)

Professional Doctorate degrees from a regionally or nationally accredited institution (May be completed in 18 months)

Students with already finished Master’s degrees may complete the program in 3 years of coursework and dissertation.

Doctoral Degree ABD Completion Option

RPU has a doctoral all-but-dissertation (ABD), Ph.D. degree completion option that enables candidates to restart and complete their degree from where they left off in the past. The applicant must have completed all doctoral coursework, passed the comprehensive examination (if applicable), and been admitted to candidacy in a previous doctoral degree program, and the US Department of Education (USDE), and the US Commission on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) recognize the accreditation of the transferring program.

If admitted, the ABD student will complete a minimum of 18 credit hours of recommended graduate-level coursework in Theological studies, plus a supervised dissertation, to graduate in Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theological Studies.

Note: This Doctoral Completion option may admit applicants from non-theology backgrounds who, after completing all requirements, would graduate with a Ph.D. in Theological Studies, not in their former area of study.

The application fee for the ABD Doctoral completion option is $100 (USD).

A full-time student can complete the ABD Doctoral degree completion program in 18 months.

All our professors for this program have their finished doctoral degrees from accredited universities recognized by the USDE and CHEA.

This Doctoral program at Resurrection Power University is not accredited by any agency that the US Department of Education recognizes. Therefore, all prospective applicants are advised to ascertain that getting a Ph.D. from Resurrection Power University will serve their desired purpose.
